Lone Star Surf Series 2026 is Live!

We are back for our 3rd season and you do not want to miss it! Lone Star Surf Series is now the premier surf contest series on the Texas Gulf Coast! We run our events on time and on schedule, no postponements or cancellations. We have the best judges far and wide, all well respected surfers in our state and beyond. Each of them are well traveled surfers that absolutely rip and stay up to date on professional surfing and contemporary judging criteria.

This year we will have 5 regular season events all across the Texas Gulf coast to qualify surfers for The Finals at Waco Surf on November 8, 2026. Each of the regular season events will use our Leaderboard Format with no eliminations in qualifying rounds (see info below). Contests will run on their scheduled day. No postponements so you can count on our contest happening and plan accordingly. Your top 3 finishes throughout the season will count towards Finals qualification. That means you can drop your worst 2 event scores for the season points total.

Finals Waco Surf November 8 *Invite Only

Leaderboard Format:

For regular season events, no eliminations in qualifying rounds. All surfers will surf 2 qualifying round heats to score points to qualify for the finals. Top 2 waves scored for each surfer during the qualifying rounds will be posted on the Leaderboard and will determine the finalists. Leaderboard gets reset for the finals where top 2 waves will count for the final score and determine our winners. Only 2 waves count towards finals qualification and can be from either heat or 1 score from each heat.

Divisions: Age is determined as of January 1, 2026.

- Boys Under 10 (Push-in Allowed)

- Girls Under 10 (Push-in Allowed)

- Boys Under 14

- Girls Under 14

- Boys Under 18

- Girls Under 18

Judging: We take great pride in our amazing judges! Each of them are experienced surfers that you will see in the water regularly, absolutely shredding and continuing to hone their skills. Being judged by exceptional surfers that take the job seriously is paramount to a successful surf contest.

Judging emphasis will be on committed, progressive surfing in the critical section of the wave with speed, power, and flow. We want to see big surfing and will reward it when completed with control. Length of ride is not part of our judging criteria, it's all about going BIG! No restrictions on surfboard length or size, just keep in mind progression. If waves are really small then a bigger, wider board may be the best choice for top level performance surfing, come prepared for the surf conditions for the day. We run no matter what!

Interference Rules: Interference penalties will be given if a surfer clearly hinders the scoring potential of another competitor's wave. Any intentional interfering will result in a penalty. Accidental interference penalties will be evaluated on a case by case basis and the ultimate decision falls on the head judge. Penalty for interference is 50% of the second highest scoring wave that counts on the interfering surfer's scoreline. So if the interfering surfer received a 5 and 7 for their scores, the 5 will be counted as a 2.5. The interfering surfer also loses the score for the wave that the interference was committed on.
