About Texas Surf Camps
Texas Surf Camps offers summer day camps and year-round private lessons and group events, all with the goal of teaching the sport of surfing in a safe and fun environment. Our weekly summer camps are designed primarily for males and females ages 5 to 18, but other ages may be accomodated upon request (including parents who wish to attend camp with the kids). Our one-day Saturday camps are especially popular among young adults and parents. Special group programs and surf clinics are also offered for parents, families, corporate groups, private parties and competitive surfers.
Summer camp sessions include instruction in ocean safety and awareness and surfing fundamentals, beach games, and guest appearances by representatives of Surfrider Foundation and Texas Gulf Surfing Association--and always lots of time in the water on a surfboard.
Our director, Morgan Faulkner, Quiksilver pro and one of Texas' best known surfers, resides on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii during the winter and returns every summer to his home in Texas to direct our premier summer surf camps. He is committed to instilling in each student the love of the ocean and the sport of surfing that he developed growing up in Port Aransas.
Texas Surf Camps is extremely proud of its world class instructors. Our Director and all senior instructors are certified lifeguards and most hold certifications as Waterfront Lifeguards as well--a certification focused on open water activities and exceeding the standard pool lifeguard certification. All of our instructors are experienced surfers, and some are among the top competitive surfers in the state. All Texas Surf Camps instructors are certified in CPR and First Aid. SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! In addition to their surfing skills, our instructors are selected for their positive attitude, concern for the safety of the students, knowledge of the ocean and surfing, and their ability to have fun on the beach and in the water!
Summer surf camps are held in the Nueces County IB Magee Beach Park, next to Morgan's home break at Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas, in Nueces County Padre Balli Park near Bob Hall Pier in Corpus Christi, and in Galveston at Galveston Island State Park. Campers will be divided into age and skill levels and will be encouraged to progress at their own pace, in order to build self esteem and confidence in their abilities and comfort in the ocean. We also offer private individual and group surf lessons for all ages, group surf parties and lessons for birthdays, company events, church groups, youth groups etc.
